Prayas

Amit Ohdedar

A founding member of Prayas, Amit Ohdedar is a veteran director of ten plays, five of which have been for Prayas. A deep pride for his Indian heritage and a desire to share it with his new home is what inspired him and his co-founders to present well-known Indian plays in English. By day he is a refrigeration and air conditioning engineer but his real love is to engineer the theatre elements that take an audience on a journey. He is, incidentally, also know to engineer a lamb curry to die for!

Amit has had a long standing admiration for Tagore’s work so when he found an English translation which finally did justice to the poetic nature of the piece he knew he had to put it on. It is with adept skill that he has pulled the various elements of the show together, weaving it into a sumptuous interpretation of the Bengali master-piece, “Kingdom of Cards”.
